Lose Weight AND Keep It Off: Emotional Eating | Renée Jones | TEDxWilmingtonLive

Most diets, detoxes, or pills promise overnight and effortless weight loss, but it never lasts, and ‘yo-yo dieting’ leads to greater and more demoralizing weight gain. We typically follow the diet until something drives us to the refrigerator for comfort or stress relief. Renée Jones shows you how to get free from the emotional eating that sabotages every diet.

After 40 years on a diet, yo-yoing up and down the scale, Renée Jones had learned every diet – and every cheat – before finally stopping the comfort eating and self-sabotage to lose “those last 30 pounds” AGAIN in 2012 – but this time she maintained her goal weight. Who knew that was truly possible?

With a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and a Clinical Residency in Pastoral Care, she has an international counseling and coaching practice utilizing traditional and contemporary models as well as relaxation and horse-assisted methods to help others win at losing extra weight and other baggage they’ve dragged with them for decades.

Her first book was “What’s Really Eating You: Overcome the Triggers of Comfort Eating.” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Food just always seems to make me happy. But then sad after I eat it.

I’m struggling. But I am going to give myself grace, because I was emotional the past 3 days and wanted to binge eat, or starve myself for 1 day. That’s what I typically do when I become frustrated. But I avoided all of those things and tried to control my emotions. I want to be healthier mentally.

Hello there, have you considered this diet plan known as the Okibetonic Secrets? My cousin says it helps people lost plenty of weight. Is that possible? I also read a lot of excellent review relating to this diet plan. Thoughts?

Lol, I'm always hungry . I always crave nachos with hot cheese dip, with chili and jalapeños on top.

I binge whenever I'm alone because my mother has always been very judgemental and strict when it comes to food. I remember, when I was a kid, to binge was my way to enjoy my freedom and that felt so exciting. This never changed. I'm now fighting against that craving.

Emotional eating, eat wen ur happy, eat wen ur sad, so if u can stop th emotional eating u can get on with losing weight just by eating healthy and keep the junk in th trunk so to speak (I know, easier said than done)and its not enough to know what to do but TO DO what you know

I over eat everything and when I binge I eat whatever I can find. So I'm not sure what food to picture.

Dont lose weight because you hate yourself loose weight because you love yourself. The exercise has to come from a place of love and enjoying how it makes you feel.

Emotional eating doesn't work. There are studies that proved that food doesn't lift your mood quicker than just sitting it out. Not well researched.
